About Us
"No one wears a tie anymore."
If we’ve heard it once, we’ve heard it a thousand times. But is it true? Of course it isn’t true.
Sure, most men don’t wear ties to church anymore. But some of us still do. Most men don’t wear a tie on an airplane anymore. But some of us still do. Most men don’t wear a tie to a ballgame anymore. But some of us still do. Most men don’t wear a tie on a date anymore. But some of us still do. Hell, these days, for some men it’s a stretch to even wear a tie to weddings or funerals. But some of us - unequivocally - still do!
You get the point.
In a thriving society, values like decorum, sophistication, manners and elegance are reverential. Donning a tie can be the first step towards invoking such qualities. It can also signify service, and we acknowledge the great joy that can be found in serving others. The world-famous Harry’s Bar founder, Giuseppe Cipriani said “to serve is first to love,” and we couldn’t agree more.
We might also buck the perception of your average tie wearer too. We don’t take ourselves too seriously. We like tattoos. We like rock ‘n’ roll…and we like it loud. We actually think wearing a tie is pretty rock ‘n’ roll. Francois Challe was onto something when he said in his definitive volume on neckwear, “Nowadays, since ties are no longer compulsory to the degree that they were in the past, a man would have to be almost crazy not to wear one.” Put more plainly - we think wearing a tie is cool.
If you’ve found Secret Society, you’re probably the silent soldier on the battlefield of tech-fabrics and microplastic clothing. A world gone mad will be forever grateful for your quiet service. To quote the famous Scottish poet Angus Young, “for those about to rock (in our case - a tie), we salute you!”
No one wears a tie anymore…but us! Welcome to the Secret Society!
